MICRO-NEEDLING & PRP Aftercare: Your Path to Optimal Recovery

Embrace the Natural Beauty of Skin Rejuvenation

Post-Treatment Journey:

Micro-Needling with PRP is a transformative treatment that harnesses your body’s own healing power to rejuvenate your skin. While some bleeding and mild discomfort during the procedure are normal, the results are a smoother, firmer, and more youthful complexion.

Aftercare Recommendations:

  • Day of Treatment: Avoid applying any aggressive skincare products for the first 72 hours. You may experience some redness and sensitivity, similar to a mild sunburn.
  • Pain Management: Use Tylenol instead of anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, which could hinder the healing process.
  • Sleep Hygiene: Sleep on a clean pillowcase for at least three nights after your treatment.
  • Makeup Brushes: Ensure all makeup tools that come in contact with the treated area are sanitized.
  • Dietary Tip: Consuming fresh pineapple can help with healing due to its bromelain content.

Activities to Avoid:

  • Exercise: Refrain from vigorous physical activities for 24 hours post-treatment.
  • Sun Exposure: Stay out of the sun for at least three days. After that, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen every two hours, especially if spending extended periods outdoors.
  • Makeup: Wait 24 hours before applying mineral makeup.

Skin Care Routine:

  • Initial 48 Hours: Resume your regular skin care regimen, avoiding retinoids or other exfoliating agents until the skin is no longer irritated.
  • After 72 Hours: You may reintroduce Retin-A or other topical treatments as tolerated.

Follow-Up Care:

  • Repeat Treatments: Schedule follow-up sessions every 4 weeks. Most patients achieve their desired results after 3-6 treatments.
  • Skin Shedding: Don’t be alarmed if you experience skin flaking; this is part of the process as rejuvenated skin emerges.

PRP Specific Aftercare:

  • Post-Injection Swelling: Swelling from the plasma is normal and will subside, initiating the collagen production process.
  • Temporary Side Effects: May include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, or a sensation of fullness. Ice packs can be applied to minimize these effects.

Maximizing Results:

  • Cleansing: Wash your face gently with a mild cleanser twice daily after the treatment.
  • Heat Exposure: Avoid direct heat (blow dryer, sun) and strenuous activities until the next morning.
  • Skin Nourishment: Apply hyaluronic acid and/or growth factor-enriched products like Neocutis MPC to support collagen synthesis.

Skin Protection:

  • Sunblock: Use a minimum of SPF 30 sunscreen every morning post-treatment until fully healed.
  • Makeup: Delay makeup application for at least 24 hours and until the skin has healed.
